Kabako Questions Need for Musicians’ President, Criticizes UNMF Leadership

Musician Kabako has questioned the need for musicians to have a president, arguing that Uganda should follow the example of other countries where artists operate without such leadership structures.
Kabako, who has repeatedly criticized the leadership of the Uganda National Musicians Federation (UNMF), wondered why musicians need a president, citing international artists as examples.
“Uganda has to be like other countries. Who’s the president of Rick Ross?” he asked.
The singer also criticized Swangz Avenue for bringing Jamaican dancehall star Konshens to Uganda, questioning the decision to schedule his concert on the same date as Nina Roz’s upcoming show.

Kabako argued that local artists deserve more support and opportunities to headline concerts, noting that Ugandans have repeatedly watched international performers while some local musicians have yet to stage major shows.
“We haven’t seen Nina Roz in a concert but we have seen Konshens 800 times. Don’t bring problems here,” he said.
